Job summary

International Paper is hiring for a scale operator responsible for operating weighing scales, entering data in cieTrade, and maintaining accurate inbound/outbound records. The role supports traffic and receiving activities and requires precise data entry and good teamwork.

You will coordinate with sourcing and customers, handle administrative tasks, and ensure accurate truck weights and timely communications. The position is full-time, in California, with standard daytime hours.

Qualifications

  • Must be 18 years of age.

  • Ability to read, write and speak English fluently.
  • Ability to perform simple mathematical operations.
  • Strong attention to detail and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain day‑to‑day operation of scale area and perform related administrative duties.
  • Prepare and ensure accuracy of cieTrade scale entries for inbound/outbound loads.
  • Operate weighing scales and record weights of materials accurately.
  • Create and maintain records for inbound recycle materials.
  • Resolve weight/grade discrepancies with suppliers and internal teams.
  • Track inbound/outbound loads and ensure correct truck weights in cieTrade.

Job description

Category/Shift:Hourly Full-Time (5:00 am – 1:30 pm, Monday – Friday)

The Job You Will Perform:

Responsible for helping to maintain the day-to-day operation and administrative duties associated with scale operation

  • Responsible for preparation and accuracy of all Cietrade scale entries associated with inbound and outbound loads

Operateweighing scales and related equipment to accurately measure and accurately record the weight of materials

Create and maintain accurate records of all inbound recycle materials

Resolve any receiving with weights, grades and suppliers in cietrade

Ensure all inbound, outbound loads are tracked and recorded

Ensure proper truck weights are accurate and recorded inCietrade

Set up transportation for inbound loads as requested by traffic lead

Work with Sourcing Representatives to resolve any discrepancies while ensuring supplier needs are met

Correspond with internal and external customers regarding pick up requests and/or confirmations, changes to pick up schedules for Suppliers and provide customers Truck ETA (Estimated Time of Arrival) related information

Perform general administrative tasks, such as filing paperwork, assisting with cieTrade and answering phone calls, as needed

Provide coverage and serve as back-up/point of contact for the shipping/receiving coordinator, traffic lead and receiver

  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment according to plant housekeeping standards
  • Participate in process improvement activities to reduce errors and improve customer satisfaction

  • Ability to enter accurate data into the system, including, reviewing work and detect mistakes before submitting information into the system
  • Familiarity with cieTrade specialized software (preferred)
  • Experience operating weigh scales, scale computer and software programs, cashier responsibilities and record keeping (preferred)
  • Pride in reliability and working with a team
  • On-the-job success in safety, attendance & quality of work expected
