Martin Marietta Materials is seeking an Asphalt Weighmaster at our Colorado Springs site. You will manage scale operations, input data, and ensure compliance with DOT weight limits while coordinating with plant operators and dispatch teams.
The role demands strong attention to detail and safety in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities include processing customer inquiries, handling cash/credit transactions accurately, and maintaining precise records of tonnage and inventory.
The Asphalt Weighmaster is responsible for the accurate weighing, ticketing, and documentation of all customer and internal vehicles entering and exiting the asphalt plant. Acting as the primary point of contact for drivers and customers, the Weighmaster ensures that all outbound loads comply with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations and company quality standards. This role requires a balance of technical proficiency in scale software, strong administrative skills, and a 'safety-first' mindset in a fast-paced, industrial environment.
High school diploma, GED, or relevant experience.
1-2 years in an asphalt or construction-related environment is highly preferred. Familiarity with heavy equipment or trucking operations is a significant plus. Familiarity with scale operations is preferred.
You must be able to sit at a computer terminal for extended periods to manage high-volume truck traffic.
You are required to walk across steep, rough, or uneven terrain. You must also be able to climb stairs (to access scale houses or inspect equipment).
The position requires the ability to lift at least 50 lbs.
You will also need to bend, stand, and crouch frequently to manage files, paperwork, and housekeeping.
On-site, must be willing to travel between different plant locations.
All duties require outside assignments and require periods of work in all weather conditions, cold, wet, dry and dusty. Must be able to work in areas where noise levels are up to 85 dbs.
In addition to the primary responsibilities outlined, the successful candidate may be expected to take on other tasks and assignments as required, including but not limited to duties outside the typical scope of the role to support overall team operations and organizational needs.
