Passel Farms in Iowa seeks a temporary seasonal Scale Operator to manage inbound grain, weigh trucks, and maintain receiving records during harvest.

You will sample and test grain, coordinate with Landus Grow contracts, and ensure safety, QA, and bio-security policies are followed. The role requires strong Microsoft Office skills, high organization, and adaptability to schedule changes and weekend shifts.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and direct incoming traffic to the office.
  • Serve as the primary scale operator for inbound grain deliveries, accurately weighing grain trucks and maintaining receiving records.
  • Accurately sample and test inbound grain and record results.
  • Communicate with Landus Grow team about contracts and customer positions.
  • Serve as liaison between Landus and grain customers to ensure all needs are met.
  • Complete safety training timely.
  • Follow Animal Welfare policies and practices and inform management of any violations by staff.
  • Follow bio-security measures according to Bio-Security Policy, including animal movement, visitor access, sanitation, and disease prevention measures.
  • Follow all safety rules and practices and ensure others do the same.
  • Support, promote, and adhere to policies, procedures, and values of Passel Farms and industry standards.
  • Regular, punctual and consistent attendance is essential for this position.
  • Other duties as may be assigned to fulfill responsibilities of this position and support team goals.

Description
Position Summary:

This temporary seasonal position is responsible for receiving grain and running the scale operations. Working closely with mill operations and customers, this position helps ensure the accurate receipt of grain and compliance with quality assurance standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Greets and directs incoming traffic to the office.
  • Serves as the primary scale operator for inbound grain deliveries, accurately weighing grain trucks and maintaining receiving records.
  • Accurately sample and test inbound grain and record results.
  • Communicates with Landus Grow team about contracts and customer positions.

Working Environment:

This temporary position is primarily office-based within the feed mill with primary hours being evening and weekend during the busy harvest season. There will be some variation in work hours due to employee schedules, harvest and weather along with other concerns. The use of required personal protective equipment in certain areas.
