Job summary

Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Scaffold Foreman (E&D Foreman 1) to lead on-site scaffold installation and dismantling in the Greater Birmingham area. You will supervise a crew, work hands-on when needed, and ensure safety and schedule adherence on diverse projects.

Applicants should have at least 2 years of scaffolding leadership experience, OSHA scaffold knowledge, and a valid driver's license. On-site, full-time role with strong pay and benefits. Local candidates preferred.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Scaffold E&D Lead Carpenter or equivalent scaffolding experience.
• Strong understanding of OSHA scaffolding regulations and scaffold systems.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise a crew (up to 3 lead carpenters) to safely erect and dismantle scaffolding systems.
• Lead on-site, hands-on field execution and ensure work is completed safely and on schedule.
• Perform daily JSAs, safety plans, scaffold inspections, and related paperwork under Field Supervisor guidance.
• Coach and develop scaffold lead carpenters and helpers to grow within the company.

What You’ll Do

• Crew Leadership: Direct and supervise a crew (or up to 3 lead carpenters and their teams) to safely erect and dismantle various types of complex scaffolding systems.
• Hands-On & Field Execution: Serve as an active leader on site—working with your tools when needed while ensuring jobs are completed safely and on schedule.
• Site Documentation & Planning: Perform daily JSAs, safety plans, scaffold inspection checklists, delivery/pickup tickets, and extra work authorizations under the guidance of the Field Supervisor.
• Mentorship: Coach and develop scaffold lead carpenters and helpers to help them hone their skills and grow within the company.

Important Applicant Notice

• Location Requirement: This position is based on-site at our Bessemer branch (35020) with daily travel to local project sites across the metro area. Candidates must currently live in or around Greater Birmingham. Please note: Relocation assistance, housing stipends, and visa sponsorship are not provided for this role. Non-local applicants requiring relocation will not be considered.

Qualifications Experience

Minimum 2 years of experience as a Scaffold E&D Lead Carpenter or approved equivalent scaffolding experience.

Technical Knowledge

Strong understanding of OSHA scaffolding regulations and various scaffold material systems and load limits.

Requirements

• High School Diploma/GED
• Valid driver's license
• Ability to work comfortably at heights
• Physical ability to lift 40+ lbs regularly

• Bilingual abilities (English/Spanish)

Base Pay Range: $21.38 - 26.72 Starting rate of pay may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, position offered, location, education, training, and/or experience.
