Job summary

Devon in Houston is seeking a seasoned SCADA Specialist/Engineer to lead the implementation, support and maintenance of the enterprise SCADA system. The role designs and deploys processes to reduce costs, improve runtime and reinforce a culture of safety.

The position requires a Bachelor of Science in Engineering or CS or commensurate experience, with 10+ years in related work, and strong skills in Python, SQL, C#, and .NET, plus SCADA experience (Ignition preferred). On-call rotation and travel <5% are expected.

Qualifications

• Experience with Ignition, CygNet, or Wonderware SCADA software.

Responsibilities

• Implement enterprise SCADA system across all areas of operation.
• Partner with the automation team to ensure daily and project field work is completed.
• Ensure 24/7 availability of the SCADA system with stakeholders.
• Coordinate testing of new solutions or changes to existing solutions.
• Document procedures; refresh as needed; provide training as necessary.
• Develop and maintain standards for programming, hardware and software.
• Collaborate with field technicians to resolve and test devices.
• Work with IT to troubleshoot communications issues.
• Coordinate with OT analysts and developers for data alignment.
• Perform system maintenance and operational changes.
• Develop and improve existing techniques and processes.

Job Summary

The SCADA Specialist or Engineer is responsible for the implementation, support and maintanence of the enterprise SCADA system. The position will design and deploy processes to reduce operational cost, improve runtime and support our culture of safety. The SCADA Specialist or Engineer participates in new project design as a project team member from kickoff to completion and maintains interfaces with other external systems. The position will provide superior customer support to SCADA system users. This role requires a detail-oriented skillset with exceptional problem solving skills.

Education

Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Computer Science, and/or commensurate experience preferred.

Job Responsibilities

• Implement enterprise SCADA system across all areas of operation
• Partner with the automation team to ensure completion of daily and project field work

Qualifications

• Minimum of 10+ years of experience in a related role.
• Experience with Python, SQL, C# and .NET
• Experience with SCADA software such as Ignition, CygNet, Wonderware, etc (Ignition preferred)
• Experience in SQL tools and relational databases
• Experience with various types of remote devices such as Allen Bradley, Fisher ROC, TotalFlow, etc
• Ability to work an on-call rotation
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Experience with standard communication protocols (MQTT, Modbus, ROC, etc.) and TCP/IP
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)
• Must be a team player that possesses the ability to adapt to a changing and fast paced work environment

Other Requirements

• Travel is required – less than 5%
