Job summary

ON.energy is seeking a SCADA Engineer to own the core configuration of our SCADA platform in Ignition, focusing on tag structures, UDT setup, and device connections. You will support the HMI and controls teams by building tools that speed SCADA configuration and deployment across battery energy storage systems and grid-connected assets.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience in a related engineering field.
• 2–5 years hands-on experience with Ignition including tag configuration, UDT setup, device connections, and scripting.
• Experience with MQTT, Modbus TCP/RTU, OPC UA, or DNP3 is required.
• Experience building or maintaining scripts/tools for SCADA configuration, deployment, or validation.
• Strong troubleshooting and clear written/verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Configure and maintain SCADA tags, UDTs, and device connections in Ignition for scalable multi-site use.
• Design and maintain MQTT-based communication and broker configuration for SCADA integration with Ignition.
• Integrate SCADA with PLCs and field devices across BESS and grid topologies using MQTT, Modbus, OPC UA, and DNP3.
• Develop tools to support the HMI and controls teams, including automated UDT/tag generation and validation utilities.
• Provide support for commissioning, alarm validation, and system testing across development and production environments.
• Document SCADA standards, tag maps, MQTT structures, and historian integrations for long-term maintainability.
