Job summary

A leading energy services provider is seeking an experienced SCADA Engineer to support substation automation and utility SCADA systems. The position allows for hybrid work and requires 2–5 years of experience, strong computer skills, and preferably a Bachelor's degree in a related field. Responsibilities include developing RTU settings, troubleshooting communications, and programming devices. Experience with smart grid devices and communication protocols is a plus.

SCADA Engineer | Allied Resources Technical Consultants

About the Position:

Allied Resources is seeking a SCADA Engineer to support substation automation, smart grid devices, and utility SCADA systems for a major energy provider. This position offers a competitive compensation package and the opportunity to contribute to critical transmission and distribution operations. Candidates may work out of Louisville, KY or Lexington, KY, with hybrid flexibility for those who are local.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop settings for substation RTU deployments using existing standards.
  • Create point assignment sheets and review details with substation design engineers.
  • Apply network engineering communication standards to substation designs.
  • Troubleshoot data and communication issues in collaboration with system operators and relay testing personnel.
  • Remotely program devices such as reclosers and capacitor banks for new installations, equipment failures, and protection updates.
  • Program applicable SCADA and automation systems to support new installations.

Qualifications:

  • 2–5 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong computer skills and consistent work/attendance history.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field preferred (relevant experience may be considered in lieu of degree).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Engineering or Engineering Technology background.
  • 2–5 years of utility experience.
  • Experience programming RTUs, SEL relays, gateways, or similar smart grid devices.
  • Experience with distribution/transmission protection and controls or relay testing.
  • Familiarity with communication protocols such as Modbus, DNP3, and IEC 61850.
  • Experience with platforms such as Novatech Orion, SEL RTAC, GE iFIX, Wonderware, OSIsoft PI, or Siemens WinCC.
  • This is not a driving role.
