Job summary

Terabase Energy, Inc. seeks an Engineer to maintain and troubleshoot SCADA and control systems for solar, storage, and hybrid plants. You will develop logic for complex applications, test thoroughly, and ensure security protocols across networks.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or related field, preferably with controls major.
• 2+ years of IEC 61131-3/PLC programming experience, including structured text and function blocks.
• 2+ years of controls development using SEL RTAC is a plus.
• 2+ years of SCADA development, Ignition experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Engage directly with customers; Developers, Owners, Utilities, O&M companies and ISOs.
• Troubleshoot, test, and restore RTUs, PLCs, and HMIs for active power curtailment, reactive power control, MET tower data, high voltage substations, and PPC for Solar, BESS, EMS.
• Work with SEL RTACs, ControlLogix, Ignition, MSSQL, InfluxDB, Canary Labs; manage network equipment including SEL, Cisco, Hirschmann, Fortigate, and Moxa.
• Coordinate with field technicians for on-site troubleshooting and warranty claim support; generate design and testing documentation.

Job Description

The Engineer is responsible for the maintenance and troubleshooting of SCADA and control systems for solar, solar and storage and other hybrid plants. The Engineer is responsible for deep troubleshooting, developing and implementing logic for complex custom applications, develop and implement required logic and perform testing and solve complex issues. This role ensures that all control system components function correctly and adhere to security protocols across networks. The engineer performs a variety of technical tasks to integrate new systems, maintain existing equipment, and minimize downtime during system failures. Flexibility in work hours, including occasional night shifts, and the ability to work remotely or travel as needed are essential.

Key Responsibilities

• Engage directly with customers; Developers, Owners, Utilities, O&M companies and ISOs
• Troubleshoot, test, and restore Remote Terminal Units (RTU's), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC's), & Human Machine Interfaces (HMI's) for
  • Active Power Curtailment
  • Reactive Power Control
  • MET tower data acquisition
  • High Voltage substation SCADA
  • Power Plant Control (PPC) for, Solar, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), and Energy Management Systems (EMS's)
• Work with the following technologies and platforms:
  • Controls: SEL-RTACs & ControlLogix
  • HMI: Ignition
  • Historian: Ignition, MSSQL, InfluxDB, and Canary Labs
  • Network: SEL, Cisco, Hirschmann, Fortigate, and Moxa
• Troubleshooting: Putty, Wireshark
  • Develop detailed design documentation including System Architecture Diagrams, Device Points List, IP lists, Logic Diagrams, HMI mockups
  • Generate project documentation including testing documents, as-built drawings, operator manuals and training material
  • Coordinate with field technicians for on-site troubleshooting and warranty claim support
  • Utilize diagnostic utilities to troubleshoot complex monitoring and control systems
  • Any other actions required by management
• Warranty Management
  • Handle warranty claims and ensure timely issue resolution.
  • Coordinate with vendors and manufacturers for warranty concerns.
  • Maintain detailed records of warranty claims and their resolutions
• Data Analysis and Reporting
  • Analyze performance data to identify trends and potential improvements.
  • Generate regular performance and maintenance reports for stakeholders.
  • Implement data-driven strategies to enhance system reliability and efficiency

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Technology, or related field, preferably with controls major
• Ability to communicate with team members and business partners
• 2+ years of IEC 61131-3/PLC programming experience, including structured text and function blocks
• 2+ years of controls development using SEL RTAC is a plus
• 2+ years of SCADA development, Ignition experience a plus
• Working knowledge of programming language. Phyton a plus
• Experience in setting up virtual machines on physical servers
• Working knowledge of industrial protocols such as Modbus-TCP, DNP3, OPC-UA, IEC 61850 and ICCP
• Experience working on multiple projects simultaneously
• Been part of or lead Continuous Improvement/Lessons Learned program
• Must have permanent authorization to work in the United States

Compensation And Benefits

Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. This role offers a base salary of $120,000 - $140,000. Within each posted range, individual pay is determined (and may be greater or higher), dependent on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
