Job summary

Atwell, LLC is seeking a mid-level SCADA and Automation Engineer in the Oil & Gas group to perform field work, engineering design, and analysis under the supervision of a Professional Engineer. You will design electrical power systems, set and test relays, program SCADA/PLC systems, and prepare project documentation to ensure on-time, within-budget delivery.

Responsibilities include SCADA and relay testing, IEC61850/DNP3/MODBUS configuration, and field commissioning.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred.
• 2–5 years of relevant engineering or field experience
• FE is preferred
• Knowledge of medium and high voltage power systems with strong SCADA knowledge
• Experience with configuring, testing IEC61850, DNP3, MODBUS, and/or other SCADA protocols
• Experience creating Network Architecture Diagrams
• Experience with Oil & Gas private usage networks (Transmission & Distribution) is a plus
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Previous Interactions with clients, customers, contractors and others
• Ability to travel periodically for weeks across states for field work as needed
• Possesses effective written and oral communications skills
• Good interpersonal and people skills
• Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

About the Position

As a mid-levelSCADA & Automation Engineer in the Oil & Gas group, you will be responsible for performing field work, engineering design, and analysis under the responsible charge of a Professional Engineer in a manner that provides the client with a quality deliverable that is on time and within budget.

• Perform detailed design of all aspects of electrical power systems to include one-line diagrams, three-line diagrams, control and relaying schematics, wiring diagrams, SCADA, communications, conduit and cable sizing/routing, grounding design, general arrangement, selection of equipment, writing of equipment specifications
• Set, test, wire, and install relaying and control systems, specifically SEL equipment.
• Program, installation, and testing of SCADA and PLC systems, primarily SELRTACs
• Produce configuration files associated with IEC61850 (GOOSE), DNP3, or other SCADA protocols
• Prepare a variety of documents and reports associated with projects including specifications, RFIs, studies
• Perform SCADA and relay field testing and commissioning services
• Provide field assistance and troubleshooting for SCADA systems such as SEL RTAC, Ignition, or PLCs.
• Checking the work of designers, drafters, and field service personnel for general quality and accuracy as required
• Understanding and experience with applicable Codes and Standards such as NEC and NESC
• Mobilize and perform field assignments multiple weeks at a time in Texas and New Mexico
• Other duties as assigned

Must Have

• Education: Bachelor’s in Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology from an accredited institution, electric power option preferred
• Experience: 2 – 5 years of relevant engineering or field experience
• Licensure: FE is preferred
• Knowledge and familiarity with medium and high voltage power systems, with strong knowledge in SCADA
• SEL equipment installation and configuration, RTAC experience is a plus
• Experience with configuring, testing, and commissioning IEC61850, DNP3, MODBUS, and/or other SCADA protocols
• Experience creating Network Architecture Diagrams
• Experience with Oil & Gas private usage networks (Transmission & Distribution) is a plus
• Proficiency with AutoCAD
• Previous Interactions with clients, customers, contractors and others
• Assist with client contacts and communication pertaining to specific assignments and meetings

Pay Range - $100,000 - $150,000 base, + benefits, + year-end bonus.
