Job summary

SAIC in Crane, IN is seeking a CAD Drafting Specialist to support NSWC Crane programs. You will create and modify detailed drawings using Solid Edge and collaborate with engineers, technicians, and other CAD operators to capture design intent.

The role requires hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical aptitude, knowledge of manufacturing processes and the ability to communicate complex ideas. A DoD Secret Clearance and ISO/MIL standards familiarity are preferred.

Qualifications

• AS or BS in related field; or HS Diploma with 3+ years related experience.
• Experience with Solid Edge (desired), but 3D CAD software required.
• Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge with understanding of manufacturing processes and ISO procedures.
• Must be detail oriented and able to communicate complex ideas.
• Ability to work independently and as a team member, following general or detailed instructions.
• Knowledge of ASME-Y14.100, MIL-STD-31000 and associated drawing standards, Technical Data Packages, and Military Standards (preferred).
• Must be able to obtain/maintain full DoD Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

This position will provide drafting and documentation support for NSWC Crane. In this role you will support a team creating/updating Technical Data Packages using Solid Edge Software, operator must be proficient with using 3d parametric software. One must have the ability to communicate effectively and able to complete professional correspondence.

Job Duties

• Creates and modifies detailed drawings using Solid Edge CAD Software.
• Works closely with the Customer, Engineers, Technicians and other CAD Operators to capture design.
• Works independently as well as in a collective team effort to effect changes to design and/or documentation.
• Performs a variety of moderate and complex tasks and have the ability to use a variety of tools to include, but not limited to, Calipers, Gauges, Tape Measure, Ruler and other mechanical devices to aid in design development and verification/validation of first article pieces

Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

• An AS or BS Degree in related field; Or, High School Diploma/GED with a minimum of three (3) years of related experience.
• Experienced with Solid Edge (desired), but experience using 3D CAD software required.
• Hands-on mechanical/electro-mechanical knowledge and aptitude with understanding of currently accepted manufacturing processes and ISO procedures.
• Must be detail oriented and able to communicate complex ideas.
• Ability to quickly complete tasking independently and as a team member, with detailed or general instruction.
