Job summary

Rivet is seeking a SCA Dock Master in Reston, VA to coordinate inbound and outbound traffic, supervise loading and unloading, and ensure dock safety and accurate documentation. You will work with schedulers, drivers, security, and warehouse staff to maintain smooth dock operations, uphold chain of custody, and comply with OSHA/HAZMAT requirements.

This role supports DIA logistics programs and offers hands-on responsibilities with strict security controls.

Qualifications

• US citizenship required; must be able to obtain/maintain TS/SCI clearance.
• High School Diploma or GED with at least 3 years in loading dock ops.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and reporting skills.
• Safety management knowledge and HAZMAT is required.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate inbound/outbound trucks, doors, yard flow and congestion.
• Plan and supervise loading/unloading, staging, counts and verification.
• Maintain dock logs: arrivals/departures, receipts, transfers, discrepancies.
• Enforce OSHA-aligned safety practices and PPE on site.
• Report incidents and unsafe conditions; manage chain of custody procedures.

Overview

Job Title: SCA Dock Master

Location: Reston, VA

Introduction: Rivet Operations Company (“Rivet”) has openings for multiple Dock Masters. This position will support the Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA) providing enterprise logistics support. Rivet is an exceptional industry partner to the Department of Defense (DoD) and a leader in physical and cyber security, IT management, logistics, supply chain management, process improvement and development.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Experience coordinating inbound / outbound trucks, assigning dock doors, managing yard/dock flow, and controlling congestion to meet schedules.
• Ability to plan and supervise loading / unloading activities, including staging, seal control (if used), and verification of counts / condition.
• Experience maintaining dock logs and records (truck arrival / departure times, bills of lading / delivery receipts, transfer / turn-in paperwork, discrepancy and damage reports).
• Working knowledge of OSHA-aligned dock safety practices (dock plates / levelers, chocking / wheel restraints, trailer inspection, pedestrian control, spill response, PPE enforcement).
• Ability to stop work for unsafe conditions and document/report incidents.
• Familiarity with chain of custody / signature controls and controlled access procedures as required by the site.
• Ability to coordinate with schedulers / dispatch, warehouse staff, drivers, security / access control, and designated representatives.

Education / Experience / Certifications:

• Personnel performing on this effort shall be U.S. citizens.
• Personnel are required to have an active TS/SCI clearance upon hiring.
• High School Diploma or GED with minimum 3 years of experience in loading dock operations, warehouse shipping / receiving, or transportation terminal operations.
• Strong communication skills and basic proficiency with email and spreadsheets for reporting and status updates.
• Safety Management, HAZMAT is required.

Physical RequirementsWork may involve sitting or standing for extended periods of time as well as repeated walking. Must have sufficient mobility, including but not limited to bending, kneeling, stooping, and reaching to complete daily duties in a timely and efficient manner. There is a possibility that due to parking availability and location of work, walking moderate to long distance may be required. Must be able to lift 30 pounds unassisted.
