Job Description

Under the supervision of the SBM Program Lead, the SBM Materials & Logistics Coordinator manages the ordering, supply, receipt, storage, and handling of raw ingredients and packaging supplies for the plant. This role also oversees the receipt and shipment of finished goods to the distribution center, utilizing inventory management systems and supporting process improvements as the site expands. The coordinator acts as a liaison between R&D, Quality, and SBM teams.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and manage materials and logistics functions effectively.
  • Manage inventory in compliance with KHMS policies, ensure timely reporting, and FIFO rotation.
  • Coordinate shipping and receiving processes and communications.
  • Ensure accurate and timely data entry into WASP and maintain precise shipping, receiving, and production records.
  • Assist with hold, release, and recall procedures to ensure customer safety, in collaboration with Quality.
  • Ensure storage requirements for ingredients and finished goods are met.
  • Promote team safety, training, motivation, and effectiveness.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor SBM goals.
  • Support budget development and management for projects and departments.
  • Maintain safety, quality, and system certifications; uphold safety and sanitation standards.
  • Coordinate and expedite material flow for production.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to facility planning.
  • Make decisions impacting department, budgets, and personnel, including compliance with external agencies like USDA.
  • Administer company policies, safety regulations, and HR responsibilities, including hiring, performance evaluations, and training.
  • Provide leadership in safety and GMP adherence.
  • Communicate closely with R&D, pilot plant, and maintenance teams on critical needs.
  • Demonstrate troubleshooting, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
  • Ensure equipment and tools are maintained safely and operably.

Physical Demands: Frequent activity includes standing, keyboard use, and activity in production areas. Lifting up to 50 pounds may be required, with assistance for heavier loads.

Schedule: Monday-Friday first shift, with weekend and off-hours as needed.

Experience and Skills: Bachelor’s degree preferred; 2-5 years in supply chain, logistics, warehousing, or distribution; knowledge of inventory systems, budgeting, and safety standards; excellent communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills; ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment; familiarity with HACCP, sanitation, and government regulations is a plus.
