Columbia Forest Products in the United States is seeking a Sawyer to join the manufacturing team. The role focuses on setting up the saw, adjusting guides, operating the saw, and ensuring precise cuts according to spec sheets.

You will measure materials, check for defects, and maintain accurate paperwork. The position requires physical stamina, the ability to lift up to 50 lbs, and a collaborative attitude.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• Able to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Able to stand for the full shift.
• Able to use or learn to use a nail gun and read a tape measure.
• Works well with others.
• Self-driven and able to keep up in a fast-paced, physical job.
• Reliable and shows up to work on time.

Responsibilities

• Set up the saw machine, making adjustments for each job.
• Set stops or guides to specified lengths
• Operate the saw machine, keeping an eye out for any defects or issues
• Use measurement tools to ensure accuracy
• Use accuracy when measuring and cutting boards and runners from spec sheets
• Check cuts before starting and during the course of the run to ensure accuracy
• Changing blades as they become dull using all safety measures
• Stack all outgoing material neatly in bunks provided
• Ensure all bunks removed are properly marked by size of lumber
• Accurately complete paperwork
