Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a Sawyer responsible for processing cutting i-joists to specifications to ensure a quality product is produced. Projects are standard and routine, performed with minimal supervision.

The role requires the ability to operate a forklift and chainsaw, read cut sheets, follow safety procedures, and work well in a team in a manufacturing environment. Benefits are available for full-time employees.

Qualifications

• Experience in a manufacturing, mill, or lumber environment preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift and chainsaw.
• Knowledge of safety procedures while handling saws and other tools.
• Manual dexterity for repetitious work.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to read diagrams and blueprints.

Responsibilities

• Gather materials required for cutting per requirements and read cut sheets to determine amount, size and grade of material.
• Set up machines to ensure cut accuracy and produce quality product.
• Maintain inventory with accurate counts and manage equipment servicing schedule.
• Meet daily, weekly and team production goals and handle loading/unloading of semi trucks.
