Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking a Sawyer to process cutting i-joists to specifications, ensuring a quality product is produced. A routine, minimally supervised role with a focus on efficiency and accuracy.

You will read cut sheets, set up machines, maintain inventory, and meet daily production goals while loading and unloading semi flat beds. Safety is essential; follow procedures and work as part of a team in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in a manufacturing, mill, or lumber environment preferred.
• Ability to operate a forklift and chainsaw; read blueprints and diagrams.
• Follow safety procedures and handle saws and tools with care.
• Read cut sheets to determine material quantity and grade; work fast and safely.
• Ability to work in a team and under varying weather conditions.

Responsibilities

• Sawing: gather materials, read cut sheets, set up machines, ensure quality, manage inventory, service schedule, meet production goals, load/unload semi flat beds.
• Safety: adhere to safety requirements, report defects or safety issues to supervisor.
