Job summary

BurnBot in Reno, NV is seeking Field Operations Specialists to join our wildfire fuel reduction crews. This hands-on role is outdoors, physically demanding, and involves using chainsaws and hand tools to clear vegetation across the Tahoe region.

You will bring real-world field experience in forestry, wildland fire, or vegetation management, a valid driver’s license, and the ability to travel 5+ days across the West Coast. Compensation is $24–$32 per hour, non-exempt, with site work year-round.

Qualifications

• More than one year of experience operating and maintaining a chainsaw.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to lift/push/pull up to 100 lbs regularly.

Responsibilities

• Operate chainsaws, hand tools and brush-clearing equipment to remove vegetation.
• Limb, buck, drag and pile brush and small trees.
• Support fire mitigation and land management projects.
• Maintain a clean, safe worksite and follow field safety protocols.
• Travel to job sites, often in remote or rugged locations.
• Comply with state and federal regulations and safety rules.
• Ensure equipment is maintained and clean at all times.
• Perform minor repairs on tools and equipment as needed.
• Assess site, terrain and weather conditions before operating equipment.
• Adapt to a fast-changing environment and work priorities.
• Willingness to learn and take on new responsibilities.
