Job summary

Weyerhaeuser is seeking a Production Superintendent to lead the Cottage Grove Lumbermill in Oregon. You will oversee sawmill and log yard operations, drive safety, reliability, and production improvements, and partner with maintenance and finish teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Forestry, Business, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
• At least 2 years’ experience in lumber or wood products manufacturing preferred.
• At least 5 years’ leadership experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated leadership in safety and continuous improvement.

Their skill and ingenuity have made Weyerhaeuser one of the largest premium timber, land, and forest products company in the world.The Sawmill Superintendent is a full-time, exempt position reporting directly to the Mill Manager and is responsible for leading improvements in safety, reliability, value extraction and production at our Cottage Grove Lumbermill. This position is a key member of the Cottage Grove leadership team, and this individual will provide oversight and support to the Sawmill and Log Yard departments, including maintaining a strong relationship with our maintenance and finish teams. The successful candidate will be a safety role model with excellent team skills and a proven ability to lead and develop people in a union environment.As Superintendent, you are responsible for the safe coordination and oversight of the daily activities in the sawmill and will lead the team by proactively resolving employee issues, building teamwork, and ensuring adherence to all applicable site policies and procedures in a fair and consistent manner.Key Function, but not limited to the following duties:Manage the departmental safety processes and education to ensure a safe work environment.Optimize your functional area including planning production activities and budget, coordinating maintenance activities with the maintenance team, and improving performance according to set objectives and established goals for quality, waste reduction, and process reliability.Supervisory responsibilities include hiring, planning, scheduling and general supervision of work, evaluating job performance, and providing regular feedback and coaching for development of team leaders, as well as hourly production.Facilitate proactive problem-solving and communication with other site leaders.Provides leadership for process improvement, regular team meetings and safety; facilitates proactive problem-solving.Ensure accurate and timely production reporting.We've been delivering quality building products and solutions to our customers for more than 100 years. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 10 - 15% of base pay.
