Job summary

Rex Lumber in Brookhaven, Mississippi, seeks an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead the maintenance team, oversee sawmill equipment, and maximize uptime, safety, and efficiency in a heavy industrial setting.

You will develop preventive and predictive maintenance programs, troubleshoot complex mechanical and electrical issues, manage the budget, and collaborate with production leadership to keep the mill operating safely as Rex approaches its second century.

Qualifications

• 5–7 years of maintenance experience in sawmill or heavy industrial environments.
• Strong knowledge of sawmill machinery, including PLC systems.
• Proven leadership and team management experience.
• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in mechanical/electrical engineering or related field preferred.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs.
• Lead, train, mentor, and evaluate maintenance personnel.
• Troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
• Ensure machinery operates efficiently through timely repairs and upgrades.
• Coordinate maintenance schedules with production to minimize disruption.
• Ensure OSHA, environmental, and other regulatory compliance.
• Enforce safety procedures, including LOTO practices.
• Manage the maintenance budget and inventory of critical spare parts.
• Work with suppliers and vendors to source parts and equipment.
• Lead capital improvement projects and equipment upgrades.
• Identify opportunities to improve reliability and reduce costs.
