Job summary

OMG Inc. in western Massachusetts is seeking a Saw and Planer Operator to set up and run saws and planers, read job orders, and ensure machining meets specifications. You will work as part of a safety‑minded team to produce quality parts.

The role requires 1–3 years woodworking experience, ability to read measurements and use micrometers, and good teamwork and time management. On-site position with comprehensive benefits and opportunities for growth.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• 1 - 3 years experience in woodworking, including operation of wood saws and planers.
• Ability to perform tool changes for saws and planers.
• Capable of using standard tools and measurement devices such as micrometers and rulers.
• Ability to interpret safety instructions, job orders, quality specifications, and other related documents.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong math and mechanical reasoning skills.
• Ability to contribute as part of a team.
• Positive attitude, good judgment, and excellent time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Promotes Safety as the Number One Priority of all OMG employees.
• Set up the Saws and Planers, observe operation, and inspect work products to ensure machining conforms to specifications.
• Read job orders for product and job specifications such as calibrations, dimensions, tolerances, parts to be run, or special manufacturing instructions.
• Select and adjust the controls for the Saw Cutting and Planer Equipment as well as the cutting tools, to meet the specifications as they specify on the production run sheet, including speeds and feed rates.
• Perform routine lubrication and preventative maintenance inspections as required.
• Observe all safety rules.
• Assist other Saw and Planer Operators to set up the machines and prepare and ready the finished boards for the Punch Presses which stamp out the Cortex plugs.
• Maintain a neat and well-organized work area.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
