Job summary

UFP Industries, Inc. is seeking a Saw Operator II for the 2nd shift to set up and operate multi-blade saws and cut angles. You will read schedules, select materials, and lead the saw area, maintaining safety and quality standards.

You will also perform routine equipment checks, assist with forklift duties if needed, and keep production records. Strong attention to detail and basic math skills are required; prior saw experience is preferred.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred but not required.
  • Minimum 6 months experience using saws or similar equipment; some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
  • No minimum forklift driving experience is required; however, some experience is preferred.
  • Working knowledge of basic math and inventory techniques preferred
  • Successfully complete Forklift Driver licensing process if required.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
  • May use a saw computer to set up the blades to specification or may set up blades manually.
  • Feeds material according to specifications and operates the saw.
  • Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
  • Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components/finished product.
  • Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.
  • Completes pre-shift/startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns.
  • Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Maintains production records as required.
  • Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.
  • Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.

Job Summary / 2nd Shift

Saw Operator II is responsible for the set up and operation of a multi-blade saws and/or saws making angle cuts. Functions as the saw lead person. Reads production scheduling sheets and identifies required material for the operation.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities
  • Ensures material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
  • May use a saw computer to set up the blades to specification or may set up blades manually.
  • Feeds material according to specifications and operates the saw.
  • Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.

  • Performs LOTO as required.
  • If working with a partner, ensures that partner is trained on the equipment's safe operation.
  • Communicates with forklift operator regarding loads incoming material and departing material
  • May be required to drive a forklift.
  • Performs preventive maintenance as specified.
  • Participates in safety, CI and other programs and meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
