Job summary

Ryerson in the United States, NY is seeking a Saw Operator as part of our apprenticeship program. You will cut materials to spec from technical drawings, while upholding quality and safety standards.

You will train on precision saw equipment, perform inspections, and participate in routine maintenance. Candidates must pass a skills assessment and commit to onboarding in our registered apprenticeship program.

Qualifications

• Successful pass of a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement.
• Proven experience operating precision saw equipment or similar cutting machinery.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Physically able to lift and move materials as needed.
• Onboarding through a registered apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Operate precision saw equipment to cut materials to specified dimensions with accuracy and precision.
• Inspect cut pieces to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Perform routine maintenance on the saw equipment to ensure optimal performance.
• Troubleshoot any issues with the equipment to minimize downtime and maintain efficiency.
• Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe work environment for yourself and others.

As a Saw Operator, you will be responsible for ensuring accuracy and quality when cutting materials in accordance with technical drawings and specifications.
