Job summary

Ryerson is hiring a Saw Operator to handle day-to-day staging, packing, and picking of materials for shipments. You will use proper equipment and follow SAP work orders to ensure accurate shipping and receiving processes.

The role requires basic math, attention to detail, and the ability to pass a skills-based assessment. Training will include enrollment in an apprenticeship program as part of onboarding, with opportunities for growth in a metal products environment.

Qualifications

• Pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving.
• Minimum 2 years of similar job experience preferred.
• Basic math skills.
• Basic computer skills and/or comfort using a computer.
• Physical ability to pass vision, hearing, and mobility requirements.
• Enrollment in a registered apprenticeship program on onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Pick and stage feedstock for fulfillment orders.
• Break down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders.
• Package material to customer requirements.
• Operate a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed.
• Complete paperwork and SAP work orders for shipping/receiving.
• Maximize productivity for finished goods creation.
• Other duties as assigned or as needed.

As a Service Center Operator B (SCOB) at Ryerson, you will be responsiblefor day-to-day staging, packing, and picking material for shipments using proper equipment.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Picking and staging feedstock for fulfillment orders
• Breaking down bulk bundles for customer-specific orders
• Packaging of material to customer requirements
• Operating a sit-down or side loader forklift to move material as needed
• Proper completion of paperwork and SAP work order confirmation for shipping/receiving on the computer
• Maximum productivity for finished goods creation
• All other duties as assigned or duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time with or without notice

Requirements

• Successfully pass a skills-based assessment evaluating reading, math, inspection & measurement, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills
