Job summary

Smith Industries is seeking a reliable and safety‑minded Saw Operator to join our production team. This role cuts raw materials to specification, operates the saw, and supports fabrication in a fast‑paced shop.

You will read blueprints and BOMs, measure with a tape, replace blades, maintain coolant levels, and document daily activities. Weekend work may be required; strong attention to detail and safety are essential.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Manufacturing or saw operation experience preferred.
• Ability to read blueprints and use measuring tools accurately.
• Forklift and overhead crane experience preferred.
• Strong attention to detail, commitment to safety, and ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

• Operate and inspect the saw daily to ensure safe operation.
• Read blueprints and BOMs to cut materials to required specifications.
• Measure and cut material accurately using a tape measure.
• Replace saw blades and maintain coolant and water levels as needed.
• Label cut materials and drop material with the appropriate information.
• Cut material for Vessel Shop and Tank Shop.
• Operate forklifts and overhead cranes safely.
• Complete daily equipment inspections and required production documentation.
• Communicate effectively with shop supervisors, leads, and production teams.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area.
• Work weekends as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
