Job summary

UFP Industries is seeking a Saw Operator I to set up and run a single-blade saw, reading production schedules to select materials and ensuring quality at every step.

The role requires basic math, attention to safety, and the ability to maintain clean, organized work areas while recording production data and following established procedures.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment.
• Some experience in manufacturing and assembling preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.

Responsibilities

• Set up and operate a single-blade saw according to specifications.
• Read production scheduling sheets to identify required material.
• Feed material according to specifications.
• Periodically check equipment to ensure specifications are met.
• Offload and stack material following procedures; label and band components as needed.
• Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area and ensure equipment is safe to operate.
• Complete pre-shift startup equipment inspection checklist and report problems.
• Maintain production records as required.
• Check materials and finished products for standards compliance.
• Perform duties per safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards; perform LOTO as required.
• Perform preventive maintenance as specified.
• Participate in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Principle Duties And Responsibilities

• Ensures material meets quality specifications grade, size, moisture content, etc.
• Performs setups according to specifications.
• Feeds material according to specifications.
• Periodically checks equipment to ensure specifications are being met.
• Offloads and stacks material in accordance with established procedures, and if required, may cover, label and band components finished product.
• Ensures work area is safe, clean and organized, and that equipment is safe to operate.
• Completes pre-shift-startup equipment inspection checklist and reports any problems or concerns.
• Maintains a clean and orderly work environment.
• Maintains production records as required.
• Checks materials and finished products to ensure compliance with standards.
• Performs duties consistent with established safety and quality procedures, rules, and standards.
• Performs LOTO as required.
• Performs preventive maintenance as specified.
• Participates in safety, CI, and other programs and meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications

• High school diploma GED is preferred but not required.
• Minimum 3 months of experience using saws or similar equipment some experience in manufacturing and assembling is preferred.
• Working knowledge of basic math preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
