Job Description: Satellite Systems Engineer (TS/SCI CI Poly Required)

Space Systems Integration (SSI) is a rapidly growing engineering firm delivering aerospace solutions to government and commercial clients. Our team comprises forward-thinking, self-directed professionals dedicated to solving complex technical challenges.

We are seeking a Satellite Systems Engineer with active Top Secret/SCI clearance and CI polygraph to provide Systems Engineering and Technical Advisory (SETA) support at our customer site in Chantilly, VA. The role involves supporting satellite system development, acquisitions, and enhancing space resiliency, in collaboration with intelligence community organizations and technical providers. The engineer will participate in the full lifecycle of systems engineering and management processes to deliver critical space resiliency capabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee satellite system acquisitions, focusing on systems engineering processes to ensure successful integration and mission achievement through lifecycle readiness reviews, including requirements definition, design, verification, and validation.
  • Support the entire acquisition lifecycle by developing and reviewing Statements of Work (SOWs), conducting technical evaluations, facilitating source selections, and ensuring alignment with mission objectives and standards.
  • Manage risks throughout the satellite lifecycle by identifying, assessing, and mitigating potential issues to maintain system integrity and mission success.
  • Act as a technical liaison between the government and contractors, ensuring clear communication and stakeholder alignment.
  • Collaborate with technical experts and partners to understand system designs, interfaces, and mission requirements, driving integration into the customer’s architecture.
  • Guide contracting officers and technical representatives to ensure contractual requirements, performance metrics, and deliverables meet mission objectives while managing risks and compliance.
  • Assist in identifying technology gaps, developing strategic roadmaps, and implementing projects within the customer’s architecture.
  • Prepare impactful documentation and briefings to communicate project status, findings, and recommendations to stakeholders.
  • Leverage data analytics and performance metrics to evaluate system performance and guide decision-making throughout the lifecycle.
  • Research and recommend emerging technologies for integration into space systems to enhance capabilities and mission success.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance with CI polygraph (polygraph within the last 10 years).
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering with 10+ years of experience, or Master’s degree with 8+ years.
  • Experience across all phases of satellite mission lifecycle, including concept, design, integration, testing, and post-launch operations.
  • Experience with space systems design, development, assembly, integration, and testing, especially for IC and DoD applications. Certifications such as PMI PMP, INCOSE CSEP/ESEP, or equivalent are preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal, leadership, and problem-solving skills, with ability to work effectively in government/contractor teams.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly to decision-makers of varying technical backgrounds.
  • Willingness to travel up to 10%.
