Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to launch a constellation of Low Earth Orbit satellites that will provide low-latency, high-speed broadband connectivity to unserved and underserved communities around the world.

Come work at Amazon! As a Satellite/Payload Integration and Test Network Engineer, you will be responsible for the Kuiper system data-path/network verification, support the implementation and validation sign-off of various software interface requirements and modem architectures. You will work collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary team and third-party partners from development to productization of Kuiper products.

Responsibilities

1. Conceptualize and execute test campaigns focusing on network functionality and performance, engaging with systems, hardware, and software engineering teams to capture requirements, define use cases, and work backwards from product strategy.
2. Perform end-to-end network, data, and control plane testing including ground, satellite, and customer terminals.
3. Troubleshoot and identify root causes for networking, throughput, and packet loss issues across the system.
4. Support and reproduce on-orbit networking and data plane issues in the lab.
5. Utilize AWS cloud resources and commercial test equipment; program, instrument, and automate testing processes.
6. Draft and maintain high-quality documentation such as test verification matrices, status tracking, and test records.
7. Enhance testing efficiency through automation of test execution and analysis.

Positions are available in Redmond and San Diego. If hired in San Diego, CA, up to 30% travel to Redmond, WA is required.

Export Control Requirement

Applicants must be U.S. citizens, nationals, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), refugees, or asylees due to export control laws.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, computer science, electrical engineering, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of hands-on networking experience.
• Strong knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, QoS, and VLANs.
• Proficiency with Linux, shell scripting, and command-line operations.
• Experience with Linux networking tools and cloud services (AWS preferred).
• Hands-on experience with Wireshark, Iperf, and similar tools.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Master's or PhD in related fields.
• Experience with software-defined networking, satellite/cellular network testing, programming (Python preferred), and cloud platforms.
• Knowledge of IPv6, routing protocols, network load testing, and stress testing.
