Job summary

Astranis is seeking a highly skilled Hardware Integration Test Engineer to design, build, and maintain HITL testbeds used as flight-representative proving grounds for satellites. You will collaborate across Flight Software, GN&C, Avionics, Power, Payload, and Mission Ops to ensure reliability, availability, and test readiness.

Responsibilities include end-to-end testbed lifecycle, harness design with manufacturing, on-call health triage, and expanding simulation capabilities as new satellite

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree in EE, AE, CS (or equivalent) required.
• 2–5+ years in hardware integration, systems bring-up, or test engineering.
• Comfort working across hardware and software from rack assembly to Python debugging.
• Experience with embedded systems or lab hardware like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• 2+ years Python for test automation; 1+ years Linux and shell; 1+ years Git.
• Experience reading schematics and debugging circuits interfacing with embedded software.
• Strong debugging instincts and methodical problem documentation.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; hands-on, fast-paced mindset.

Responsibilities

• Own full lifecycle of flatsat and HITL testbed builds from design to BOM and procurement.
• Design and scope harnessing needs; coordinate with manufacturing for flight-like hardware.
• Rotate as on-call point of contact for testbed health and access management.
• Diagnose and resolve hardware/software failures on testbeds across firmware and hardware.
• Drive testbed architecture decisions, including hardware allocation and risk mitigation.
• Expand simulation capabilities as new satellite blocks come online, including emulators.
• Develop tooling to improve observability, monitoring, and automated operations.
• Assist in recruiting and hiring additional teammates for the team.
