Job summary

Leidos Homeland Sector Air Traffic Systems seeks a Satellite System RF Systems Integration and Test Engineer in Gaithersburg, MD to support WAAS and the GEO7 program. The role emphasizes hands-on testing, RF system upgrades, and depot repair coordination in a hybrid environment (3 days in office, 2 days remote).

The position requires a broad RF/analog background, lab testing, and field support with occasional CONUS travel. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain Public Trust are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Technology or related field with 4–8 years of RF experience, or 8+ years hands-on RF/troubleshooting work.
• Experience testing and troubleshooting RF and analog circuits and subsystems, including Satcom ground station equipment.
• Experience building/testing RF cables and data cables (Ethernet, D-sub, Mil-Spec, etc.).
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and test procedures.
• Strong attention to detail and accurate test documentation.

Responsibilities

• Provide 24/7/365 remote restoration support during system failures at offsite locations.
• Test and characterize RF components/subassemblies to verify performance against specs.
• Provide hands-on support in design, development, integration, and testing of ground station equipment.
• Travel to remote sites 1–2 times per year for preventive maintenance and upgrades.
• Develop and maintain engineering documentation: specs, test procedures, BOMs.
• Support lab test activities: setup, calibration, data collection, documentation.
• Troubleshoot hardware at subsystem/unit level with engineers for root causes.
• Conduct depot operations: evaluate failed hardware, coordinate repairs, track status.
• Maintain lab equipment and RF test instrumentation calibration and handling.
• Complete Annual Obsolescence Study to identify replaceable units from OEMs.
• Develop/update block diagrams and cable drawings for program support.
