Job summary

NORC at the University of Chicago is seeking a Data Analyst I or II to support hospital discharge data processing across states and harmonize files into a uniform format. This hybrid role offers collaboration with researchers and data scientists in a health sciences setting.

The position emphasizes SAS proficiency, data management, and teamwork, with opportunities to learn R/Python and work with healthcare data.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in quantitative fields or related health/science.
• Proficiency with data management and data processing.
• 0-2 years’ experience with large data sets and analytic programming.
• Strong foundation in statistics, mathematics and data science.
• Proficiency with SAS, including SAS macros; knowledge of R or Python preferred.
• Healthcare or administrative claims data experience preferred.
• Strong problem-solving and quantitative analysis; good organization and prioritization.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with researchers to implement and improve data management, processing and analysis.
• Develop programs for cleaning, integration, transformation and harmonization, plus data quality checks.
• Support and enhance databases and produce data documentation and dictionaries.
• Contribute to reports and presentations with tables and graphics.
• Apply AI tools to improve efficiency.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
