Job summary

Herdt Consulting, Inc. is seeking an experienced SAP Transportation Management (TM) SME to support a large-scale modernization program for the U.S. Navy, delivering ERP modernization and optimization across its commands in a highly regulated DoD environment.

The SAP TM SME will provide hands-on SAP S/4HANA TM expertise to shape the to-be design, lead future-state design validation sessions, and define how Navy SAP TM will connect with JTMS, coordinating with government stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated hands-on SAP Transportation Management design experience in SAP S/4HANA, with emphasis on future-state design and solution validation.
• Experience leading and facilitating design sessions translating transportation requirements into SAP TM capabilities.
• Experience designing how SAP TM integrates or exchanges data with external transportation systems; JTMS interface experience is highly relevant.
• Strong understanding of transportation business processes, integration dependencies, data flows, and functional-to-technical design considerations.
• Ability to shape to-be designs, challenge assumptions, identify gaps or dependencies, and drive stakeholders toward design decisions.
• Strong facilitation and stakeholder-management skills across business and technical audiences.
• Ability to work effectively in a complex DoD ERP modernization environment.

• Lead future-state design validation sessions for Navy ERP+ P2S transport workstream.
• Shape and validate the to-be SAP TM design in SAP S/4HANA for Navy requirements.
• Map Navy transportation business needs and future-state processes to standard SAP TM capabilities.
• Design and validate the future-state connection between Navy SAP TM and JTMS.
• Assess transportation process requirements, integration dependencies, data exchanges, and system touchpoints affecting SAP TM and JTMS.
• Facilitate design decisions with business, functional, technical, integration, and government stakeholders.
• Translate workshop outcomes into clear design decisions, requirements, risks, dependencies, action items, and follow‑up activities.
• Partner with P2S functional teams, integration teams, architects, and system owners throughout future-state solution validation.

This program enables financial, supply chain, and procurement operations within a highly regulated DoD environment, requiring seamless alignment between business processes, technology, and data to ensure compliance, performance, and mission readiness.

The SAP Transportation Management SME will provide hands‑on SAP S/4HANA TM expertise to shape the to-be design, lead future-state design validation sessions, and define how Navy SAP TM will connect with the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS).

Key Responsibilities

• Lead and facilitate future-state design validation sessions for the Navy ERP+ Plan-to-Stock (P2S) transportation workstream.
• Shape and validate the to-be SAP Transportation Management design within SAP S/4HANA based on Navy transportation requirements.
• Map Navy transportation business needs and future-state processes to standard SAP TM capabilities.
• Design and validate the future-state connection between Navy SAP TM and the Joint Transportation Management System (JTMS).
• Assess transportation process requirements, integration dependencies, data exchanges, and system touchpoints affecting SAP TM and JTMS.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior DoD or federal supply chain and logistics experience.
• Prior U.S. Navy ERP or Navy transportation/logistics experience.
• Experience with SAP Extended Warehouse Management (EWM).
• Experience supporting SAP S/4HANA transformation programs and fit‑to‑standard design.
• Knowledge of DoD transportation systems, interfaces, and end‑to‑end supply chain dependencies.
