Job Description
As the SAP S/4 Data Migration Lead, you will be responsible for overseeing and managing the data migration process from SAP to S/4HANA. You will play a critical role in ensuring that cross-over activities related to all the workstreams (F2S, P2P, R2R, and O2) are accurately captured holistically. Along with the alignment of the workstreams, the resource should be able to provide a bird’s eye view of how all the activities integrate into the new SAP S/4HANA system in collaboration with the Client Team and the Global Data Migration Playbook.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute a comprehensive data migration strategy and plan for the SAP S/4HANA implementation using the Global Data Migration Playbook as your foundation.
- Lead a team of data migration specialists and coordinate their activities to ensure timely and accurate data migration by validating work plans weekly to ensure they are managing activities and deliverables with discipline.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, IT teams, Global Data Team, Application PMs, and external partners to gather data migration requirements and define data mapping rules.
- Design data migration scripts, programs, and tools to extract, transform, and load data from legacy systems into SAP S/4HANA and associated applications.
- Perform and organize activities related to data profiling, cleansing, and validation to ensure data quality and integrity throughout the migration process. Establish rules of engagement for data activities including governance processes.
- Monitor data migration progress, with KPI reporting, identify issues or bottlenecks, and communicate/document observations, recommendations, owners, and timing. Implement corrective actions to stay on schedule and within budget.
- Conduct data migration testing and validation to verify the accuracy and completeness of migrated data in partnership with the Global Team and Business Owners.
- Make recommendations to improve the Global Data Migration Playbook and related tools, procedures, and best practices for future projects.
- Work closely with other project workstream teams to ensure tasks and activities are documented and executed smoothly.
- Support testing phases with engagement during defect management to resolve issues at the root cause. Engage in hypercare activities to resolve data issues.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Proven experience (10+ years) leading data migration projects, preferably in SAP environments.
- Experience with Symiti data migration tools and other SAP data migration tools such as BODS, MDG, etc.
- Deep knowledge of SAP data migration tools, methodologies, and best practices.
- Strong understanding of SAP S/4HANA data structures, data objects, and migration processes. Experience with Master Data Management (MDM) based on TIBCO EBX.
- Proficiency in SAP Data Services, Power BI / Looker, APIs, or other ETL tools.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills. Fluency in English; knowledge of French is a plus.
- Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
- SAP certification in data migration or related areas is desirable.
- Willingness to travel to client locations at least 3 days a week; travel to Paris may be required. Must have a valid Passport and Visa.
