Job summary

Total Talent Solutions in Houston, TX is seeking a SAP Planner to manage production scheduling, align supply with demand, and support on-time delivery. This role focuses on forecasts, backlog, capacity, and resource availability to meet targets.

You will Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Leadership to optimize workflows, monitor progress, and adjust plans. Proficiency with SAP ERP and Excel is required.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of production planning and scheduling in manufacturing.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP required) and advanced Excel skills.
  • Strong capacity planning, materials planning and workflow understanding.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities.
  • APICS familiarity or certification is a plus; industry experience (valves) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on forecasts, backlog, capacity, and resources to meet targets.
  • Sequence and release daily production orders for optimal workflow and labor utilization.
  • Monitor progress, resolve delays, and implement schedule changes; address root causes of disruptions.
  • Collaborate with Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Leadership to meet KPIs.
  • Analyze capacity and demand to identify bottlenecks and improve throughput.
  • Maintain ERP/MRP data accuracy and alignment between supply and demand.
  • Provide order status updates and remove obstacles impacting commitments.
  • Support continuous improvement by scheduling best practices and mitigating risks.

Job Duties
  • Develop, maintain, and adjust production schedules based on forecasts, backlog, capacity, and resource availability to meet delivery and revenue targets
  • Sequence and release daily production orders, ensuring optimal workflow, load balancing, and efficient use of equipment and labor
  • Monitor production progress, proactively resolve delays, and implement schedule changes while addressing root causes of disruptions
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Production, Supply Chain, Customer Service, and Leadership to meet KPIs such as on-time delivery, service levels, and lead times
  • Analyze capacity, material availability, and demand to identify bottlenecks and implement solutions that improve throughput and reduce inventory
  • Maintain accurate planning data in ERP/MRP systems, ensuring alignment between supply and demand requirements
  • Provide order status updates and remove obstacles impacting production performance and customer commitments
  • Support continuous improvement by developing scheduling best practices, streamlining processes, and mitigating operational risks
  • Track job progress end-to-end and adjust labor, overtime, or outsourcing strategies as needed to maintain schedule adherence
  • Participate in planning cycles (daily, weekly, monthly) to stabilize operations and improve forecast accuracy
  • Ensure compliance with safety policies and maintain awareness of shop floor conditions
Requirements
  • 2+ years of production planning and scheduling experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Bachelor's degree (Engineering or related field preferred) or equivalent experience
  • Experience with ERP/MRP systems (SAP required) and strong Microsoft Excel skills (advanced functions/macros preferred)
  • Solid understanding of capacity planning, materials planning, and production workflows
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills with the ability to manage changing priorities
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills across multiple departments
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Self-motivated, solutions-driven mindset with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Familiarity with APICS principles or certification preferred; industry experience (e.g., valves) a plus
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment, including exposure to noise, heat, and dust, with required PPE
  • Capable of standing, walking, and occasionally lifting up to 25 lbs
