Job summary
NTT DATA Romania is seeking an experienced SAP Basis Administrator to support SAP ABAP, databases, OS, and virtualization environments. You will work with international teams including China, covering shifts 08:00-16:00 and 16:00-00:00 CET.
You will handle system health checks, log analysis, license updates, and cross-functional coordination across SAP, database, server, and cloud components while using SAP Fiori, VMware, and cloud tools in a dynamic global delivery setting.
Qualifications
- Hands-on SAP Basis administration
- Experience performing SAP ABAP system health and performance checks
- Strong troubleshooting skills and SAP system log analysis
- Operational knowledge of SAP HANA/MaxDB/ASE databases
- Experience starting/stopping SAP application and database systems
- Knowledge of SAP license administration and database maintenance
- Basic knowledge of SAP Fiori and non-ABAP systems
- Intermediate knowledge of Windows Server and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server
- Intermediate VMware knowledge including Cloud Director and vApp administration
- Ability to understand German-language customer tickets (with translation tools)
- Basic knowledge of Google Cloud Platform
- Experience with ServiceNow or similar ITSM platforms
- Microsoft Office 365 familiarity
- Pragmatic problem-solving and teamwork
- Willingness to collaborate with distributed teams
- Availability for shift rotation 08:00-16:00 and 16:00-00:00 CET
- Nice to have: basic German writing skills
Responsibilities
- Perform SAP ABAP system health and performance checks
- Start and stop SAP ABAP systems and databases
- Monitor system availability, stability, capacity and performance
- Analyze SAP developer traces and logs
- Investigate SAP errors and implement corrective actions
- Support SAP license updates and related administration activities
- Maintain database logs and data maintenance tasks
- Troubleshoot SAP landscape using structured methods
- Document findings, actions and resolutions
- Coordinate incidents with SAP, database, server and infra teams
- Support SAP environments on HANA, MaxDB and ASE databases
- Monitor database logs and coordinate maintenance
- Collaborate with database specialists for escalations
- Operational tasks for SAP Fiori environments
- Troubleshoot Fiori availability/connectivity issues
- Coordinate with resolver teams for specialist work
- Support Windows Server and SUSE Linux environments
- Perform VMware-related operations including vApps
- Apply basic Google Cloud Platform knowledge for cloud-hosted SAP
- Analyze cross-layer dependencies
- Process incidents and changes via ServiceNow
- Monitor tickets and report status
- Utilize Office 365 for communication and reporting
- Use Dynatrace for monitoring and performance analysis
- Follow incident, escalation, change, and handover processes
- Maintain operational docs and knowledge articles
- Collaborate with distributed SAP delivery teams
- Participate in technical handovers and troubleshooting across locations
- Clearly communicate technical status and impact

We are looking for an experienced SAP Basis Administrator to support SAP ABAP, database, operating system, and virtual infrastructure environments. The role combines SAP Basis operations, technical troubleshooting, database activities, server administration, and cloud and virtualization support. You will work with international teams, including colleagues in China and other SAP delivery locations.
Candidates must be willing and able to work according to the agreed shift rotation.
- Perform SAP ABAP system health and performance checks.
- Start and stop SAP ABAP systems and their associated databases.
- Monitor system availability, stability, capacity, and performance.
- Perform detailed technical log analysis, including SAP developer traces such as dev_w0.
- Investigate SAP system errors and identify appropriate corrective actions.
- Support SAP license updates and related administration activities.
- Perform or support database log and data-related upgrades and maintenance activities.
- Apply pragmatic troubleshooting methods to resolve operational issues efficiently.
- Document technical findings, actions, and resolution details.
- Coordinate incident resolution with SAP, database, server, and infrastructure teams.
- Support SAP environments running on SAP HANA, SAP MaxDB, and SAP ASE/Sybase databases.
- Perform basic database monitoring, start and stop activities, and operational checks.
- Analyze database logs and support the resolution of database-related incidents.
- Monitor database log and data utilization and coordinate the necessary maintenance activities.
- Collaborate with database specialists when incidents require advanced investigation or escalation.
- Perform basic operational activities for SAP Fiori environments.
- Support initial troubleshooting of Fiori-related availability and connectivity issues.
- Apply basic knowledge of non-ABAP systems when monitoring or troubleshooting the SAP landscape.
- Coordinate with the appropriate resolver teams for issues requiring specialist intervention.
- Support SAP systems running on Windows Server and SUSE Linux Enterprise Server.
- Perform intermediate-level server checks and operating-system troubleshooting.
- Support VMware environments using VMware Cloud Director.
- Perform operational VMware activities, including creating, splitting, and merging vApps and creating CEs.
- Apply basic Google Cloud Platform knowledge when supporting cloud-hosted SAP environments.
- Analyze dependencies across SAP, database, operating system, virtualization, and cloud layers.
- Process incidents, service requests, and changes using ServiceNow.
- Monitor tickets and provide timely and accurate status updates.
- Use Microsoft Office 365 tools for communication, reporting, and operational documentation.
- Use Dynatrace, where applicable, to support monitoring, performance analysis, and troubleshooting.
- Follow the agreed incident, escalation, change, and shift-handover processes.
- Maintain operational documentation, procedures, and knowledge articles.
- Work closely with geographically distributed SAP and internal delivery teams, including colleagues based in China.
- Participate in technical discussions, handovers, and troubleshooting sessions across locations and time zones.
- Communicate technical status, service impact, and resolution progress clearly.
- Collaborate effectively with internal teams, SAP representatives, and customer stakeholders.
- Hands-on SAP Basis administration and operational support experience.
- Experience performing SAP ABAP system health and performance checks.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and experience analyzing SAP system logs and developer traces.
- Operational knowledge of SAP HANA, SAP MaxDB, and SAP ASE/Sybase databases.
