Job summary

City of Staunton is seeking a Sanitation Worker to collect recycling and refuse from residential and business locations. The role includes serving as a back-up driver and working four 10-hour days with occasional Saturdays.

Must be physically capable of lifting up to 70 pounds and riding the back of a refuse truck. Class B CDL is highly desired; opportunity to advance with CDL to higher pay.

Qualifications

Sanitation Worker

The City of Staunton Public Works Department keeps our city shining. The Recycling and Refuse Division is now recruiting for a Sanitation Worker to join its team. Successful candidate has responsibility for collecting recycling and refuse materials from residential homes and business locations. Works four ten-hour days per week (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday), with an occasional Saturday shift. Serves as back-up driver for trash and snow removal. Must demonstrate strong character and work ethic, and be physically capable of the following: ride on the back of a refuse truck for extended periods of time, lift 40 pounds on a regular basis, up to 70 pounds occasionally, stand and walk for extended periods of time, and work in all weather conditions. Similar previous experience and Class B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) highly desired. Successful candidate also has the opportunity to advance to Sanitation Equipment Operator with attainment of Class B CDL resulting in an hourly rate increase.

Hourly rate: $17.62 (+) excellent benefits.
