Starting Hourly Rate is now: $24.78

This position is responsible for performing routine and repetitive physical work. The employee will perform heavy manual labor, operate equipment for collecting recycling and refuse materials, and may occasionally supervise a crew under close supervision of a Sanitation Operator.

Key responsibilities include:

1. Lift and wheel recycling and refuse carts and materials set out by residents; dump carts into collection vehicles and replace them.
2. Assemble, clean, and distribute carts to residents.
3. Wash and clean collection vehicles and equipment.
4. Maintain cleanliness of the loading area and surrounding street.
5. Policing the area around private property recycling and refuse containers.
6. Operate collection vehicles as needed.
7. Act as ground guide during vehicle backing maneuvers.
8. Transport collected materials to designated drop-off points and record weights.
9. Perform other assigned duties.

Education and Experience:

High school diploma or equivalent; experience may substitute education.

Special Qualifications:

• Possession of a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or learner's permit, with the ability to obtain a full CDL within 30 days of employment.
• Knowledge of safety hazards and precautions related to waste collection.
• Knowledge of collection equipment and practices.
• Ability to operate collection vehicles safely and efficiently.
• Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to work effectively with others and the public.
• Quick learner with minimal supervision.
