Job summary

City of Ocala is seeking a sanitation worker to operate and maintain residential and commercial collection vehicles. The role includes supervising crews, addressing customer concerns, and ensuring safety through inspections and vehicle maintenance.

Candidates must hold a valid Class B CDL and be capable of handling routine route reports and work orders using tablets. The position requires good physical fitness and the ability to work in varying weather conditions.

Qualifications

• Minimum of six (6) months experience in heavy manual labor and/or driving and operating a sanitation vehicle.
• Experience operating a grapple truck preferred (residential).
• Must be able to comprehend, record, and complete route reports and work orders.
• Ability to operate a standard shift vehicle is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely operates a sanitation vehicle and assists in collection and loading of waste.
• Supervises collection crews when designated and adjusts work schedules as needed.
• Addresses customer complaints and reports violations as required.
• Maintains and cleans assigned vehicles and performs safety inspections.
• Uses tablets for work orders and communication with supervisors.
• Provides support for city-wide events and emergency responses.
