Job summary

Solid Waste Services of West Virginia, Inc. in Colliers, WV is seeking reliable Sanitation Workers/Driver's Helpers to support our solid waste collection team in a family-like environment.

The position requires you to ride on the back of a trash truck and perform essential roles, such as assisting the driver to safely navigate the truck and collect curbside waste and/or recycling in a safe and efficient manner. Our team emphasizes safety, punctuality, and courteous customer interactions.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Valid, active Driver's License required.
• Ability to lift 75 pounds.
• Ability to work outside in all types of weather.
• Must be able to ride on the rear step of the truck while in motion.

Responsibilities

• Show up for work on time with all proper PPE and ready to go.
• Partner with the driver to safely navigate the truck, especially in backing.
• Utilizes proper hand signals to communicate to the driver when backing and stays in sight.
• Collect curbside waste and/or recycling in a safe and efficient manner, placing containers back in their original location.
• Assist the driver with pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Ensure the vehicle is kept clean and in presentable condition.
• Refer all customer questions/concerns to the route supervisor.
