Job summary

Wellness Pet Company is hiring a Sanitation Technician I for 1st shift (6:00 AM–2:30 PM) at our Decatur, AR manufacturing plant. The role focuses on maintaining cleanliness, GMP adherence, and food safety standards throughout the facility.

You will support sanitation in production, packaging, and storage, follow safety protocols, and operate a forklift as needed. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and work well under the fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in cleaning and sanitizing within a food manufacturing environment preferred.
• Able to read, write, and communicate in English.
• Must be able to stand for long periods and lift 50 lbs.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Willingness to follow GMPs and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and sanitation tasks per Master Sanitation Schedule.
• Maintain food safety cleanliness in production, packaging, and storage areas.
• Assist with proper labeling and inventory tracking of chemicals.
• Operate forklift safely when required.
• Adhere to all GMPs and safety policies.

Position Summary:

The Sanitation Technician I is vital to the manufacturing process, maintaining good housekeeping, following GMP’s and sanitation procedures in all areas in and around the plant including production, packaging, warehouse, food ingredient receiving and storage systems to meet the sites’ Quality and Food Safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning and sanitation responsibilities as assigned by the Master Sanitation Schedule, throughout the plant.
• Under the direction of the Supervisor, inspects, promotes and maintains adherence to food safety cleanliness in the handling or product, ingredients and finished goods using proper work procedures and compliance with Food Safety Standards as defined by the FDA, FSSC 22000, AIB and/or HACCP programs.
• Understand and use chemical or non-chemical pest control systems.
• Ensure chemical containers are properly marked and tagged with the ability to track chemical inventory.
• Follow and hold others accountable for following all company Good Manufacturing Practices.
• Safely operate forklift to perform job duties as necessary
• Other duties as assigned

Workplace Safety

• Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
• Participates in mandatory safety training and adheres to all safety policies/procedures.
• Reports all safety issues, near misses, and injuries.

Quality & Food Safety

• Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
• Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements.
• Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined.
• Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies.
• Reports food safety and quality system failures and takes actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.

Requirements:

• Experience in cleaning and sanitizing within a food manufacturing environment preferred
• Must be able to work independently, taking initiative to complete tasks without constant oversight
• Must be able to follow detailed instructions
• Ability to read, write, and communicate using the English language.
• Ability to work in an environment which includes frequent exposure to elements such as odor, noise, heat, cold, dust and chemicals.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time and perform tasks on a ladder or at heights.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs frequently and consecutively
• Ability to understand chemical usage procedures, personal protective equipment, and apply that knowledge safely to the sanitation process.
