Job summary

WellPet, LLC is seeking a Maintenance Supervisor for the 3rd shift at our Decatur, AR plant. The role oversees maintenance staff, schedules work around production, and ensures safety and quality throughout all maintenance activities.

The successful candidate will lead a team, coach and evaluate performance, and drive Lean improvements while ensuring compliance with company policies and food safety standards.

Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years experience in a Maintenance/Team Lead Role.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Experience in managing employee performance, conducting reviews, coaching and administering disciplinary action.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to manage at least 10 employees.
  • Ability to read/interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures; write routine reports and speak before groups.
  • Experience with extruders, packaging systems and conveying equipment.
  • Previous experience in food or beverage manufacturing.
  • Experience operating production machines.

Responsibilities

  • Directly supervise employees in Maintenance and oversee daily activities.
  • Coordinate maintenance work around production schedules and downtime.
  • Ensure safety and food safety compliance; coach staff accordingly.
  • Conduct interviews, training, performance appraisals and disciplinary actions.
  • Maintain data and communicate effectively between shifts and teams.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives using Lean Manufacturing principles.
  • Respond to emergencies and coordinate with safety protocols.

Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Directly supervise employees in Maintenance.
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for both employee safety as well as food safety. Actively involved in; coaching employees on all aspects of performing their duties in the safest manner possible for both personal safety and food safety.
  • Conducts regular Employee Communication Meetings.
  • Oversee adherence to PM schedules.
  • Responsible for coaching and developing team members. Facilitates team problem solving, decision making, fair and timely disciplinary action, and conflict resolution. Ensures performance appraisals and progress reports are done in a timely manner. Facilitates the communication between shifts and teams.
  • Train staff on effective maintenance practices.
  • Oversee repairs in a timely manner.
  • Schedule maintenance work order around production down time.
  • Coordinate part usage and oversee parts check out.
  • Act as on-shift representative for emergency response coordination, compliance to Company policies (drug/alcohol, attendance, EEO, etc.) Responds to employee issues as needed, conducts thorough investigations and coordinates results/issues.
  • Demonstrate a daily commitment to the continuous improvement process by following Lean Manufacturing concepts and the Basic Principals. Strive to improve each work process. Identify/implement value added and cost savings activities and projects.
  • Must maintain the highest standards of data management by creating consistent, reliable data which will ensure accuracy and in turn, maximize the use of data and confidence in decision making.
  • Proactively manage safety by ensuring compliance with all Federal and State regulations and internal Company policies. Regularly complete behavior-based safety observations. Ensure unsafe conditions are corrected in a timely manner.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
Workplace Safety:
  • Completes safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory safety trainings and adheres to all safety policies
  • Required to report all safety issues, near misses, and injuries
Quality & Food Safety:
  • Completes quality & food safety system documentation and verifies compliance to program standards. Reports deviations to Supervisor.
  • Participates in mandatory food safety and quality training program requirements
  • Preserves the integrity of the BRC system through adherence to the policies and procedures outlined. Takes actions necessary to resolve food safety and quality system deficiencies
  • Required to report food safety and quality system failures and take actions necessary to preserve the BRC system.
