Job summary

Joseph's Bakery in Lawrence, MA is seeking a reliable Sanitation Technician to join our team. You will maintain cleanliness throughout our production facility by cleaning equipment, surfaces, and floors while following food safety standards in a fast-paced environment.

This hands-on role requires attention to detail, ability to follow SOPs and GMPs, and teamwork with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Management. Competitive benefits provided.

Qualifications

• Prior sanitation or janitorial experience preferred but not required.
• Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety principles preferred.
• Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize production equipment, machinery, conveyors, and food contact surfaces using approved cleaning chemicals and procedures
• Clean floors, walls, ceilings, drains, production areas, break rooms, and restrooms
• Disassemble and reassemble equipment as needed for deep cleaning
• Safely handle and apply sanitation chemicals in accordance with Safety Data Sheets (SDS) and company procedures
• Follow all sanitation Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), GMPs, HACCP requirements, and Food Safety programs
• Monitor sanitation effectiveness through inspections, swab testing, or other verification methods
• Properly collect, sort, and dispose of waste materials
• Inspect cleaning equipment and report maintenance concerns when identified
• Complete required sanitation records and documentation accurately
• Work closely with Production, Quality, Maintenance, and Management teams to support operational goals
• Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment at all times
• Perform additional duties as assigned

Position Summary

Joseph's Bakery is seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Sanitation Technician to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation throughout our production facility by cleaning and sanitizing equipment, production areas, and food contact surfaces while following all food safety, quality, and workplace safety standards. This is a hands-on role in a fast-paced food manufacturing environment that plays a critical part in ensuring the safety and quality of our products.

Key Responsibilities

Qualifications

• Previous sanitation, janitorial, manufacturing, food production, or industrial cleaning experience preferred, but not required
• Knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, Food Safety, and sanitation practices preferred
• Ability to safely handle cleaning chemicals and follow safety procedures
• Basic mechanical aptitude and ability to disassemble and reassemble equipment for cleaning
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and quality standards
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team
• Reliable attendance and punctuality required
• Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus, but not required

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, stoop, crouch, reach, and perform repetitive tasks throughout the shift
• Frequent use of hands and arms to operate cleaning tools and equipment
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 75 lbs.
• Ability to work in varying temperatures and manufacturing environments
• Ability to work around cleaning chemicals, dust, noise, and other manufacturing conditions

Additional Information

• Full-time onsite position located in Lawrence, MA
• Positions Available in 2nd and 3rd shift
• Relocation assistance is not available
