Job summary

Michael Foods, Inc. in Las Vegas, Nevada is seeking a Sanitation Tech to clean and sanitize production areas and processing equipment in a safe, efficient manner.

You will follow safety rules, reinforce Safety as a core value, and ensure Food Safety & Quality policies are followed while operating CIP/COP equipment to support nightly production.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and mix chemicals per SSOP directions and test accuracy.
  • Operate CIP and COP cleaning equipment.
  • Dismantle, protect, and clean packaging and processing lines per SSOP.
  • Complete SSOP documentation after tasks and test run equipment for next shift.

Responsibilities

POSITION SUMMARY

The Sanitation Tech is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production areas and processing equipment in a safe efficient manner.

This position has the responsibility to comply with Safety work rules at all times as well as an obligation to reinforce Safety as a Core Value. Ensures that all policies, procedures and activities, related to Food Safety & Quality, are followed and complied with uniformly, in an effort to reduce product and process variability.

Duties And Responsibilities

  • Follow all Personal and Food Safety precautions: Personal Protective Equipment, Lockout/Tagout, GMPs, follow Plant Color Code for Buckets, Brushes, etc
  • Prepare and mix chemicals according to SSOP directions and test for accuracy using titration method.
  • Be able to use chemicals in a safe manner.
  • Required to participate in training by chemical supply company.
  • Participate in all plant wide training classes.
  • Reviews sanitation log book for any communications related to the nightly cleaning of equipment and passing / non-passing of ATP swabs. Communicates with sanitation lead for any of these issues.
  • Be able to operate CIP and COP cleaning equipment.
  • Assist other employees as needed to complete assigned tasks.
  • Dismantle, protect as needed, and clean packaging and processing lines and equipment according to SSOP and master sanitation schedule.
  • Completely fill out and initial SSOP documentation upon completion of task.
  • Reassemble and test run equipment after cleaning in preparation for the next shift’s production
  • Perform sanitation inspection on processing lines/equipment
  • Communicate with sanitation lead regarding finding of any sanitation, or maintenance issues.
  • Accountable for a safe and healthy workplace for everyone. Adhere to all safety policies and procedures and incorporate safety and health in all jobs and tasks.
  • Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.
  • Adhere to all safety polices and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

EDUCATION

None.

Experience

Sanitation Experience preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Food Handler’s Permit, Clark County Health Department

Forklift Training-Preferred

The pay range for this position is $15.81 to $17.60 per hour.
