Job summary

Pharmavite in Alabama (Opelika) is seeking a reliable janitor to perform routine cleaning across offices, plant facilities and warehouses, keeping the work environment safe and sanitary.

You will use brooms, vacuums, waxers, burnishers, powered equipment and mops, dispose of trash, maintain cleaning logs, and follow MSDS safety guidelines. Shift runs 6:00 PM–6:30 AM on a 2-2-3 schedule.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Three to six months prior janitorial experience preferred.
  • Ability to read English sufficiently to understand operating procedures, label instructions for chemical cleaners and solvents, and MSDS sheets; ability to speak English to communicate with supervisors and co-workers and receive/follow verbal instructions.

Responsibilities


  • Keeps offices and plant facilities clean and orderly.

  • Using brooms, vacuums, waxers, burnishers, powered equipment, and mops to clean floors.

  • Picking up and disposing of trash and litter in compactor and other trash receptacles.

  • Using rags, sponges and brushes to clean furniture and fixtures.

  • Washing walls and other surfaces.

  • Collects and crushes cardboard and fiberboard drums; utilizes bailer to contain trash materials.

  • Maintains routine log books and work description charts.

Education

Certification

Experience

Three to six months prior janitorial experience preferred.


Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

A working knowledge of cleaning activities, use of power and manual tools, and cleaning chemicals within 90 days of hire is required.


Ability to read English sufficiently to understand operating procedures, label instructions for handling chemical cleaners and solvents, and MSDS sheets; ability to speak English to communicate with supervisors and co-workers and receive/follow verbal instructions.


Ability to write basic English to maintain cleaning logs and work description charts.


Physical Requirements

Stand/walk and perform physical labor for a full working shift. Pull, push, squat, etc. to accomplish thorough cleaning. Perform repetitive job duties for much of the time. Intermittently lift loads of up to 50 pounds. Must be able to work 6:00 PM to 6:30 AM on a 2-2-3 work schedule.


Environment

The environment for this position varies from clean, climate-controlled offices to manufacturing and warehouse areas. It may include intermittent exposure to noise levels loud enough to require the use of hearing protection in designated areas. Warm temperature levels, fumes, vibration, dust, etc. sufficient to cause minor discomfort. The employee is required to wear safety glasses, a uniform, hairnet, steel-toed shoes, dust mask, various types of protective gloves, and plastic aprons, as necessary. Exposure to disagreeable elements is negligible.

The incumbent must be able to perform this job safely in accordance with standard operating procedures and good manufacturing practices without endangering the health or safety of self or others.

The salary range for this position is $37,000.00 - $60,000.00. Actual compensation will take into account a wide range of factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to geographic location, education, experience, qualifications, and job-related skills. It is not typical for an individual to be hired above the midpoint of the range for their role, and compensation decisions depend on the facts and circumstances of each case. This information is provided to applicants in accordance with state and local laws. Base pay is only one component of our total rewards offerings, and we will take the full offering into consideration when presenting an offer of employment.

Pharmavite provides compensation for all overtime hours worked by non-exempt (hourly) employees in accordance with state and federal law.
