Job Summary:

The Plant Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for implementing the Sanitation program and ensuring all current Food Safety Standards are met throughout the site. The Sanitation Supervisor will train and develop sanitation employees to identify and control GMP issues and enforce food safety standards. Communication of sanitation issues with the Quality Manager, Plant Manager, and staff is essential.

Job Duties:
  1. Assist in developing and maintaining the Sanitation program (HACCP, Allergen, etc.) in compliance with regulations.
  2. Handle consumer complaints and lead efforts to minimize them.
  3. Develop sanitation procedures and paperwork.
  4. Maintain a strong relationship with Plant and Quality/Sanitation Managers.
  5. Identify sanitation or regulation issues at the facility.
  6. Prepare the facility for third-party or customer inspections.
  7. Ensure standards are achieved through policy, procedures, and paperwork.
  8. Create an environment conducive to developing future supervisors or managers.
  9. Manage the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS).
  10. Lead continuous improvement initiatives in sanitation.
  11. Manage sanitation budget and supervise chemical suppliers and staff.
  12. Work with auditors to identify and correct sanitation or environmental issues.
  13. Ensure all chemicals are approved and MSDS are available; oversee chemical dilution testing.
  14. Develop and train plant cleanup procedures.
  15. Oversee pest control programs.
  16. Perform other duties as assigned by the Quality Manager.
  17. Fill in for the Manager during their absence.
Required Competencies & Knowledge:
  • Knowledge of the Master Sanitation Plan, legal food industry requirements, USDA, FDA, OTCO standards.
  • Understanding of GMPs, HACCP, Allergens, BRC, and equipment design principles.
  • Experience with commercial manufacturing of various food products.
Skills:
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain sanitation programs and handle conflicts positively.
  • Excellent communication, computer skills, self-motivation, and decision-making abilities.
  • Strong motivational and leadership skills.
Abilities:
  • Effective communication, analytical thinking, leadership, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and make sound decisions.
Proficiency in:

MS Office, Excel, SAP / PICK Systems

Work Environment:
  • Office setting with frequent exposure to production environment noise, dust, machinery, forklifts, and temperature fluctuations.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Degree in Food Science or equivalent education/experience.
  • At least 3 years in the food or pharma industry, with 3 years as a Sanitation Supervisor.
  • Availability for 3rd shift hours: 11PM to 7AM, Sunday-Friday.
