Job summary

CJ Schwan’s is seeking a sanitation supervisor to lead cleaning and sanitation across production areas, ensuring operations meet safety, quality and regulatory standards. You will coordinate with operations, engineering and maintenance, directing teams to achieve defined metrics and keep documentation up to date.

Candidates should have 3+ years in leadership roles in sanitation, familiarity with chemicals and a strong grasp of food safety regulations (HACCP).

Qualifications

• 3+ years in sanitation leadership with direct reports.
• Knowledge of chemicals used in sanitation processes.
• Ability to read, interpret and follow safety rules, instructions and regulations.
• Detail-oriented with initiative and ability to work with urgency in a fast-paced setting.
• Strong project management skills and knowledge of food safety/HACCP regulations.

Responsibilities

• Lead and supervise cleaning/sanitation of production and packaging areas as per master schedule.
• Coordinate sanitation work with operations, engineering, maintenance and PI&D to meet facility needs and timelines.
• Ensure sanitation execution meets verification metrics (visual, ATP, APC, ELISA, coliform monitoring).
• Maintain compliance with USDA, FDA, GMPs and related sanitation SOPs and HACCP controls.
• Train employees on safety, HACCP, GMPs and sanitation programs, with proper documentation.

What You Will Do

• Provide leadership and supervise all activities necessary for the cleaning and sanitizing of infrastructure and equipment (production & packaging equipment, tools, carts/forklifts/mobile units, etc.) within and around the facility(production, packaging, storage areas and support areas) in accordance with the master sanitation schedule.
• Coordinate work with operational stakeholders (operations departments, engineering, maintenance, PI&D) to effectively schedule cleaning and sanitation work that meets facility needs and executes cleaning & sanitation within agreed to timeframe.
• Responsible for teams to execute cleaning and sanitizing to an effective level as defined by verification methods(visual inspection, ATP, APC testing, ELISA testing, finished product coliform monitoring, etc.). Accountable to successfully execute based on defined metrics (% pass, % compliance, etc.).
• Responsible to understand and lead team to comply with all applicable regulations (USDA, FDA), customer requirements, and quality management systems (GMPs, SSOP standard sanitation operating procedures, HACCP Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points).
• Coordinate and facilitate (as appropriate) training for all employees in the areas of personal safety, HACCP, GMPs, food regulations, and sanitation programs to ensure execution and appropriate documentation of quality management systems.

What We Look For

• 3+ years of experience, with at least 1 year of Lead or Supervisor (with direct reports)
• Knowledge of various chemicals used in the sanitation process.
• Ability to read, interpret, and execute against documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, government regulations, and procedure manual.
• Detail-oriented, ability to take initiative, and ability to work with a sense of urgency in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong project management skills. Strong understanding of food safety, HACCP and basic food regulatory requirements.

What We Offer

The base salary range for this position is $60,000 to $99,000 annually, with eligibility for a 10% annual incentive bonus based on organizational performance. The range reflects factors such as experience, skills, education, certifications, and location, and starting salary may fall anywhere within the stated range.
