Job summary

Schwan’s Company is building a new Sioux Falls facility and seeks a Sanitation Manager for the night shift to lead sanitation staff. The role partners with production to schedule cleaning, ensures compliance with USDA/FDA requirements, and drives continuous process improvements in a high-volume food environment.

Ideal candidates bring 5+ years in sanitation with 2+ years leading teams, plus knowledge of SSOP, HACCP, GMP and regulatory standards. Relocation assistance may be available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
• 5+ years sanitation experience, with 2+ years leading a team.
• Food manufacturing experience; knowledge of SSOP, USDA, FDA, HACCP, GMP.
• Ability to comply with company and federal regulations.
• Basic SAP data generation ability.
• Good mechanical aptitude in a high-volume setting.

Responsibilities

• Confer with multiple production departments to schedule sanitizing and cleaning assignments.
• Monitor sanitation performance and verify guidelines and procedures.
• Prepare and compile required company and government reports within deadlines.
• Investigate ways to reduce waste and downtime and improve equipment utilization.
• Manages trains and develops subordinates.
• PPE usage is required and must be followed (gloves, goggles, etc.).

Join our team as a Sanitation Manager!

What You Will Do

• Confer with multiple production departments to schedule sanitizing and cleaning assignments, responding to reports of sanitation problems and USDA and FDA issues, and monitor sanitation performance as needed to verify guidelines and procedures costing specifications and system data.
• Manage the effective utilization of employees’ skills, development, quality, housekeeping, safety, utilization of required PPE (Personal Protective Equipment), policy administration, employee relations, scheduling, cost control, and coordination of all sanitation activities with multiple crews.
• Prepare and compile required company and government reports within required deadlines and retain as required for production and food safety audits required in food manufacturing.
• Investigates ways to reduce, waste downtime and improve equipment and employee utilization in our continuous efforts to improve processes utilized; presents proposals to Manager for review and approval.
• Manages trains and develops subordinates.
• The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required, including but not limited to bump cap, safety glasses/goggles, face shield, face mask, ear plugs, hair and beard nets, gloves and safety shoes or rubber boots.

What We Look For

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent
• 5+ years of related experience in sanitation and/or full cycle cleaning, ideally in a manufacturing setting, with 2+ years leading a team of sanitation staff.
• Food Manufacturing Experience and solid working knowledge of SSOP, USDA, FDA, HACCP, and GMP.
• Understanding and ability to comply with company and federal regulations and procedures.
• Basic skills in the generation of data from electronic general ledger systems such as SAP.
• Good mechanical aptitude within a high-volume manufacturing setting.

Compensation and Benefits:

The base salary range for this position is $75,000 to $125,000 annually with eligibility for a 15% annual incentive bonus, that is based on organizational performance. The pay range represents the numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to educations, skills, work experience, certifications, geography etc. As such, starting pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.
