Job summary

McKee Foods Corporation is seeking a reliable Sanitation Specialist to join our Environmental Sanitation Department on the Weekend Shift at the Stuarts Draft, VA plant. You will clean areas as directed, operate high-pressure washing equipment, and train new staff on proper cleaning procedures.

This role involves heavy lifting, working in ovens and cold rooms, and strict safety protocol adherence. The schedule covers weekend hours with long shifts, and the company offers health and wellness

Pay

$23.88 - $25.10 / hour (base rate), depending on experience and qualifications

Eligible hours worked can pay up to 27% above base rate, based on schedule Premium eligibility and pay details are reviewed during the interview process

Weekend Shift

Thursday 12 hours, 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. (30-minute clock-out lunch)

Friday 12 hours, 6:00 a.m. - 6:30 p.m. (summer schedule) (30-minute clock-out lunch)

Saturday night, 12 hours, 10:00 p.m. - 10:30 a.m. (hours vary with sundown) (30-minute clock-out lunch)

Job Summary

McKee Foods is seeking a Sanitation Specialist to join our Environmental Sanitation Department team.

• The ESD (Environmental Service Department) Technician Specialist's job function is to clean in any area assigned by the Master Sanitation System (MSS) and work in areas that the supervisor may assign. The job includes tasks that assist in the control of microbiology, bacteria, and mold growth in and around the equipment and other areas of our manufacturing facilities.
• The ESD Technician Specialist should know all tasks and will provide training to new employees on cleaning procedures. You will rotate and may work in all areas, cleaning equipment with high-pressure systems and operating high pressure washing equipment.
• Tasks include cleaning and sanitizing the specified equipment listed on the MSS. Employees in this position are expected to know what parts and equipment will be needed in order to operate all the various lines during changeovers at their facilities.
• You may work in high temperatures (ovens) and low temperatures (cold room). While performing the tasks, it is necessary to work with chemicals and substantial amounts of water. You must be able to lift heavy items ranging from 20-50 pounds and work at heights up to 40 feet.
• While performing the duties of this job, you may be exposed to fast-moving machinery, mechanical parts and airborne particles. Moving conveyors may affect people who are sensitive to motion. The noise level in the work environment is loud and some areas require hearing protection.
• You must follow proper safety procedures at all times. You are required to wear approved clothing while in specified plant areas. This includes hairnets, slip-resistant steel-toed safety shoes, gloves and hearing protection. No jewelry, nail polish, or artificial nails are allowed in the food production facilities.
• You will be required to attend specialized training to prepare for certain tasks. You must also be willing to submit to pre-employment drug screening and a background check.

Preferred Qualifications

• Food processing or food manufacturing experience
• Experience with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and industry standard cleaning and sanitation procedures
• Basic knowledge of the function and operation of sanitation equipment
• Training and/or experience in operating lift equipment
• Training and/or experience with high pressure water systems
• Ability to obtain and maintain an LTO (Lift Truck Operator) license (includes a good driving record and meeting vision requirements to drive a lift truck at McKee Foods)
• Related training; including blood borne pathogens, confined space, lock out systems, dust hazard, chemical management, etc.
