Job summary

Sevier County Government is seeking a solid waste/ sanitation worker to operate a sanitation truck on assigned routes, collect trash and recyclables, and transport loads to the landfill. The role includes grounds maintenance, minor repairs, and occasionally assisting with center upkeep.

Qualifications

• High school diploma preferred or equivalent
• Valid Tennessee CDL Class B with ability to be insured at standard rates
• Experience in solid waste operations and operating heavy equipment is desirable
• Ability to interact tactfully with the public and follow procedures

Responsibilities

• Drive sanitation truck on assigned routes to collect trash from centers, schools, and public facilities
• Transport loads to landfill; operate one-ton truck for recyclables
• Perform grounds cleaning and minor maintenance at centers; assist with repairs and upkeep
• Provide information to the public on solid waste regulations
• Direct traffic around collection operations when needed
• Perform related duties as required
