Job summary

Naturpak is seeking a Sanitation Operator to keep production areas clean and compliant in our Janesville facility. You will sanitize equipment, utensils, and surroundings, disassemble components as needed, and manage chemical concentrations with strict PPE protocols.

You will also maintain sanitation records in real time, support preoperational inspections, and ensure adherence to GMP, food safety, OSHA and company safety standards throughout all shifts.

Qualifications

• 1+ year of sanitation, janitorial, or food manufacturing cleaning operations preferred.
• Ability to read, follow, and complete SSOPs and sanitation records accurately.
• Willingness to work with industrial cleaning chemicals with proper PPE; chemical handling training provided.
• Reliable attendance; ability to work assigned shifts — sanitation may require early morning, late night, or weekend coverage.
• High school diploma or GED required.

Responsibilities

• Clean and sanitize production equipment, utensils, and surrounding areas per SSOPs and Master Sanitation Schedules.
• Disassemble and reassemble designated equipment components as trained and per procedures.
• Prepare and use cleaning chemicals at required concentrations; follow PPE and safety procedures.
• Complete sanitation records accurately and in real time; document chemical concentrations, contact times, and area sign-offs.
• Report equipment damage, deficiencies, or conditions that prevent effective cleaning to the supervisor immediately.
• Support preoperational inspections and correct identified cleaning deficiencies before production start.
• Maintain chemical storage areas in an organized and compliant manner; follow all HAZMAT and SDS requirements.
• Follow GMP, food safety, OSHA, and Naturpak workplace safety requirements at all times.

The Sanitation Associate is responsible for cleaning and sanitizing production equipment, utensils, and work areas according to established Master Sanitation Schedules and SSOPs at the Naturpak facility in Janesville, WI. This role ensures that all equipment is properly cleaned, inspected, and ready for production in full compliance with FDA, USDA, and Naturpak food safety requirements.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

Work is performed in a high-volume food manufacturing environment in Janesville, WI. Sanitation work may occur during off-shift, overnight, or weekend hours. The environment includes exposure to cleaning chemicals, hot water, steam, wet floors, and production equipment. Full PPE is required. Strict adherence to GMP, food safety, OSHA, and Naturpak workplace safety requirements is mandatory at all times.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

• 1+ year of experience in sanitation, janitorial, or food manufacturing cleaning operations preferred
• Ability to read, follow, and complete SSOPs and sanitation records accurately
• Willingness to work with industrial cleaning chemicals with proper PPE; chemical handling training provided
• Reliable attendance; ability to work assigned shifts — sanitation may require early morning, late night, or weekend coverage
• High school diploma or GED required

Preferred

• Prior experience in food, beverage, or USDA/FDA-regulated manufacturing sanitation
• Familiarity with CIP (Clean-in-Place) or COP (Clean-out-of-Place) procedures
• Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, or food safety fundamentals
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Must be able to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods in wet or warm environments
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs, including chemical containers and equipment components
• Ability to work with industrial cleaning chemicals and hot water while wearing required PPE
• Ability to work in varying temperature zones including warm processing and refrigerated areas
