About the Opportunity
A well-established food manufacturing organization is seeking an experienced Sanitation Manager to lead overnight sanitation operations across two nearby production facilities.
This is a highly visible leadership position responsible for ensuring sanitation, food safety, and regulatory standards are consistently achieved while building a strong culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
The Sanitation Manager will lead an internal sanitation team at one facility while also overseeing the performance of a third-party sanitation provider supporting the second location.
What You'll Do
- Lead 3rd-shift sanitation operations across two food manufacturing facilities located within the same community.
- Manage, coach, and develop sanitation employees while ensuring appropriate staffing and performance.
- Oversee a contracted sanitation provider and hold the partner accountable to established performance and food-safety standards.
- Ensure equipment, production areas, and facilities are properly cleaned and sanitized before production startup.
- Conduct and support pre-operational inspections and address sanitation deficiencies.
- Maintain compliance with GMP, HACCP, SSOP, food safety, customer, and regulatory requirements.
- Partner closely with Operations, Quality, Maintenance, and HR.
- Support internal, customer, and regulatory audits.
- Ensure proper chemical handling, PPE, and Lockout/Tagout practices.
- Investigate sanitation or food-safety issues and lead corrective actions and root-cause analysis.
- Identify opportunities to improve sanitation effectiveness while reducing unnecessary labor, water, chemical, and utility usage.
- Standardize sanitation processes and expectations across both facilities.
- Track sanitation performance and drive continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of sanitation leadership experience within food manufacturing or food processing.
- Experience directly supervising sanitation employees.
- Strong knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices.
- Experience with sanitation chemicals, cleaning systems, and manufacturing equipment.
- Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, SSOPs, and food manufacturing regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to independently lead overnight operations and move between two nearby facilities during the shift.
- Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent relevant industry experience will be considered.
Preferred Experience
- Experience overseeing third-party or contracted sanitation services.
- HACCP, PCQI, SQF, or similar food-safety training/certification.
- Environmental monitoring and audit preparation experience.
- Knowledge of CIP/COP sanitation systems.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a plus.
