Job description

Catallia Mexican Foods, LLC is looking for an experienced Sanitation Manager to join our team!

Position Overview

This position is responsible for managing all the sanitation activities at our Eagan, MN production facility and providing leadership to ensure Catallia achieves the highest standards for environmental and food safety compliance. The Sanitation Manager is responsible for fostering and maintaining a food safety and hygiene culture within the company by supporting many sanitation and food safety activities.

Key Responsibilities & Essential Functions
  • Change Management and Program Development -This department will undergo significant transformation over the next year. We need a leader who has successfully implemented major changes, developed new programs, and driven continuous improvement initiatives. A candidate whose experience has primarily been maintaining the status quo is unlikely to be successful in this environment.
  • Flexible Work Schedule - The position will require occasional weekend presence to evaluate sanitation activities and support operational needs. I anticipate this would average at least one weekend every two months.
  • Audit Leadership Experience - This individual will serve as the lead for our CFS audit program. We have an audit scheduled in December while Bob is still with the organization, which will provide an excellent opportunity for the new manager to learn our processes and expectations.
  • Drive and manage the Environmental Program in a way that is used to collect and find important information with regard to microorganisms that will lead to conclusions about cleanliness and food safety. This is done by performing swabs, doing the plates, and reading them.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to the Sanitation Supervisor to ensure all plant/ground sanitation activities are completed; maintain the facility's Master sanitation schedule and ensure compliance.
  • Effectively communicate and explain sanitation processes, food safety practices, documentation, and corrective actions to internal and external auditors.
  • Understand the proper mixing, dilution, and titration of sanitation chemicals to ensure effective and safe cleaning and sanitation practices.
  • Successfully guide different auditors - FDA, SQF, CFS, MDA, Taco Bell, and others - to ensure Sanitation compliance to audit programs.
  • Large-Scale Food Manufacturing Experience -Experience managing sanitation operations in a large food processing facility is required.
  • Lead, manage, and develop the facility's sanitation and pest control programs, systems, procedures, and databases.
  • Increase measurement and improvement of sanitation performance (e.g. KPIs and sanitation performance standards).
  • Guide the sanitation department on maintaining the facility's chemical concentrations; check sanitizer ppm.
  • Observe and report unsanitary practices and conditions along with recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Coordinate preparation of plant for 3rd party audits and support internal audits and walkthroughs.
  • Utilize technical skills and experience to troubleshoot sanitation and pest control issues.
  • Coordinate and maintain the Master Sanitation Schedule (MSS) for operations.
  • Maintain all records, files, and documentation that pertain to sanitation.
  • Manage the Sanitation Program ensuring all SSOPs are followed.
